POSTAL is a game franchise with currently 6 games with a seventh on its way! this page in specific is about my personal favorite of the games, the original postal!!
also known as; postal 1, postal (19)97, postal, peakstal, ect..
now i dont mean to be biased (im literally p1 dude) but its by far one of my favorite games, even if it plays like actual shit.
to give a very brief introduction, postal 1997 as ill call it from here, is an isometric top down shooter where you play as the POSTAL DUDE!
your job is to eliminate the hostiles on each map and try (or dont!) to not kill any innocents.
its controls are a little odd for the time, and even now (f1 to exit to the next stage was,, a choice rws!)
but, introductions aside, let me go on about how much i adore this dumb shooter game!!

POSTAL, released on november 14th, 1997 was a culture shock for the american public!
the disturbing loading screens, the offputting audio that plays during them, the mocking quips that the dude shoots out as he ends the lives of hundreds,
it was something that hadnt been seen before!!
the ending aswell was particularly shocking, endings with implied harm of children were NOT a popular thing,
even if the children arent ever truly harmed.
this ending however, was retconned in the redux edition of postal, being changed to be the dude visiting a burial instead!
while many complain about the developpers "going soft" with the change, the cause of it is apparent.
school shootings are no longer an inconcevable tragedy, theyre a part of life for many countries.
the unfortunate truth is that rws does not want to depict the harm of children, and thats kinda the only way to step up the original postals ending.

while the game itself plays like absolute shit now, the controls being slippy and a bit hard to learn.
HOOOOWEVERRRRR!!! as a result of this, rws has made it so the game is entirely free on steam!!
this is something most developpers would not do, especially for an opening title of such an iconic game series!!
i truly adore this game though, ignoring the gameplay flaws!!
the art in this game is beautifully done, the visuals on the loading screens are something i cannot get enough of!!
the zoom in so close you cant tell what it belongs to, wether its the dude or an animal!!
this one also gets extra points because i also have a snaggle tooth...
but all the art in this game is just so amazing!!
the music aswell is just so perfect!! the grating metal noises being followed by disorienting screams layered ontop of eachother!!
